The virgin nativity Tempera on transposed panel: pictorial layer from its original support, then transposed onto a later board. The paint layer appears to have been part of a much larger much larger icon, probably of Russian of Russian origin, dating from the 18th century. The writing on the upper part is later, certainly dating from the transposition. Numerous repentirs, foil burns and highlights on the the entire icon. 24 x 19 cm
