Collin, Renouard, Bernard, Magimel. 1806-1808. 2 volumes in-4, red morocco, spines decorated alternately with semis of gilded speckles and sea anchors in a diamond in a diamond-shaped frame of gilded dots and twigs, and a very wide double gilded with small gilded anchors in the spandrels, and a duke's coat-of-arms in the center. gilt edges, inner lace, endpapers lined with Empire green tabis. This collection, illustrated with a portrait-frontispiece of the author, a folding table and 67 beautiful plates, was printed in small numbers. It brings together studies and memoirs of the main achievements of the great engineer Cessart: I. Saumur bridge. Rouen bridge and quay. Port du Havre. Port of Le Tréport. Pont des Arts in Paris. - II. Port of Dieppe. Cherbourg harbour. An exceptional copy bearing the cipher of Denis Decrès, Minister of the Navy from 1801 to 1814. Although this D, topped by the duke's aigrette, could also have suited Duroc, Grand Maréchal du Palais, the presence of sea anchors in the decoration points in the sailor's favor.
