Tulard, 181: "Bonnart took part in all the campaigns of the Revolution. In 1800, he was assigned to the gendarmerie. Volume 2 of his souvenirs is devoted to Bonnart's service in Maine-et-Loire from 1800 to 1818, when he retired with the rank of captain.
