Rectangular miniature with gouache, representing the flight of September 19, 1783 at the Palace of Versailles. Louis XVI period. Chased and gilded bronze frame decorated with a ribboned rush, topped by a ribbon knot. 4 x 6,5 cm. Three passengers took part in this flight: a rooster, a duck and a sheep, installed in a wicker basket. The aerostat, after a flight of about ten minutes, landed three kilometers from the Palace of Versailles, the animals remaining safe.
