139- (HERALDRY). [MANUSCRIPT] - MARQUIS (N.). Heraldic dictionary, which contains all the terms of the coat of arms and those of the pieces which compose it, with a historical explanation of the military Orders, made by N. Marquis for his particular instruction. S.l., 1776, 2 vols. in-8, text framed in black fillet, blond calf, spine ornamented with black title and tomaison, double gilt fillet on the boards, red edges (later binding). The author introduces himself in the introduction: "The distinguished chapter of Remiremont having honored me with the office of their genealogist". This makes it possible to identify him exactly: it is Jean-Baptiste-Nicolas Marquis (1701-1790), who also exercised the functions of sacristan, and who had written a great number of monographs on the history of the principality, still preserved in the Abbey at the time of the beginning of the Revolution. This is an unpublished work. Handwritten bookplate of Ch. Bolangier de Fougerolles, cavalry officer.
