257- [TREMAUX (Pierre)]. Album du Soudan. Costumes, views, types, ceremonies, etc. Paris, Henri Vivien, s.d., oblong folio, in sheets, in the publisher's cardboard folder. 21 lithographed and colored plates after Tremaux's drawings, including a folding panorama. Architect and explorer, Paul Tremaux published his Voyages au Soudan oriental et dans l'Afrique septentrionale from 1847 to 1854 in 1859. The atlas that accompanied the work included about sixty plates. The publisher Vivien undertook, in the 1900's, to assemble these 21 plates with a specially printed cover, title and subtitle pages, either because he recovered a certain number of plates from the original publisher, or because he wanted to create an album specific to the Sudan.
