Pair of Medici vases in Egyptian porphyry. The frame in chased and gilded bronze
and gilded bronze, decorated with pearls, rais-de-coeur and rosettes.
Signed on the frame : " Escalier de Cristal Paris ".
Louis XVI style, late 19th century.
H : 35,5 cm, D : 21 cm
(Probable blocking or small restorations).

The model we present is directly inspired by the one kept in the collection
of the Duke of Aumont, then acquired by Louis XVI, through the merchant-merchants
Julliot (today kept in the Louvre Museum, Inv. MR 2825-2826).
The catalog of the sale of the Duc d'Aumont indicates that the pair of vases was made in Rome and
is identical to a pair in the Randon de Boisset sale in 1777.
This model was very successful in the last quarter of the 18th century as many examples were designed and
were designed and adapted with a similar mounting, counting 12 or 15 pearls per side.
15 pearls per side. The mounts of our vases have 13 pearls on each side.
