162-GIRARDIN (S.). Mémoires. New edition. Paris, Michaud, 1834, 2 vol. in-8, 446 pp. and 430 pp. with fold-out facsimile, Bradel-style red half-maroquin, cover preserved (Carayon). Tulard, addendum: "If the memoirs do not concern the imperial period, the same cannot be said of the journal, which begins in 1798. It records Napoleon's visit to Ermenonville, the mass at Saint-Cloud and the trip to Naples. This diary, which ends in 1810, is a lively chronicle of the period, but it calls for a number of reservations. Roederer wrote to Joseph Bonaparte on July 2, 1829 that he had found in it "many things that lack of discernment rather than malice has let pass."" A fine copy.
