Enlarged edition of these memoirs, first published in 1716, and which, long before the publication of Saint-Simon's memoirs, offer a vivid portrait of the French Court under the reign of Louis XIV from 1661 to 1693 (Combat de la Marsaille). They reveal a bitterness similar to that of the great memorialist about the diminishing role of the nobility and the rise of the commoners. A fine copy bearing the arms of Mazarin (or of the College).
