299-PIOLLET (Adrien). Mémoires. Valence, Imprimerie valentinoise, 1912, in-8, 512 pp. with a portrait-frontispice under serpente, red half-maroquin with corners, ribbed spine, gilt head, cover preserved (period binding). A rare first and only published edition. Probably printed in a small number, although no precise justification is given in the book. This is the only publication of a magistrate's memoirs, written entirely in his own hand (in-4, 294 ff.), in the 1880s, and owned by his daughter-in-law Madame Albert Piollet at the time of publication. Jean-Adrien Piollet (1805-1891), born and died in Grenoble, had a legal career that took him from the bar (1828) to the presidency of the Grenoble Court of Appeal. After outlining his family roots, his account runs from his childhood to 1850. Court cases and local politics in the Dauphiné play a major role. Absent from both Tulard and Bertier. Missing from the Bnf. A fine copy.
