314-[REGNAUD DE SAINT-JEAN D'ANGÉLY (Michel)]. Les Souvenirs de M. le comte Regnaud de St.-Jean d'Angely, suivis d'une table alphabétique des personnages cités dans ce recueil. By M***. Paris, Plancher, 1817, 2 volumes in one vol. in-12, viij pp., pp.. 9-251 ; 281 pp. with frontispieces, red half-maroquin with corners, ornate ribbed spine, gilt head (second half 19th century binding). Very rare first edition. These Souvenirs are not only apocryphal, but do not belong to the category of memoirs proper, but to that of pamphlets: in 1817, moreover, the politician was still alive, and was not to die until 1819. The table mentioned in the title was intended for volume IV, which, like volume III, never saw the light of day. Tulard, 1220. Missing from the Huart collection. A precious copy from the King's library in Neuilly. A fine copy. A handwritten note indicates that the work was part of the sale of Cte Octave de Béhague, April 1880. Ex-libris.
