338-SCHOELL (Maximilian-Samson-Friedrich), KOCH (Christophe-Guillaume). Histoire abrégée des traités de paix, entre les puissances de l'Europe, depuis la paix de Westphalie ; par feu M. de Koch. Entirely recast, augmented and continued up to the Congress of Vienna and the Paris treaties of 1815. Paris, Gide fils [Imprimerie de J. Smith], 1817-1818, 15 vol. in-8, cherry half-sheepskin with corners, smooth spines decorated with gilded fillets and garlands (period binding).

Although Schoell, out of filial piety towards his master Christophe-Guillaume Koch (1737-1813), gives as the first edition of his diplomatic sum the latter's 4 volumes published between 1796 and 1797 at the Basel address, the reworking of the initial text is so considerable that we are dealing with an entirely new title, which we should not hesitate to place under the name of Schoell (1766-1833), bookseller and diplomat in the service of Prussia.

A fine copy with the gilded figure of Empress Marie-Louise of Habsburg as Duchess of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla, pushed into the center of the boards.

Bookplate of Napoleonic financier and collector Calvin Bullock (1867-1944). He assembled a remarkable collection of objects and books relating to the Emperor and Admiral Nelson, which passed to his son Hugh Bullock (1898-1996) on his death.

Some foxing.
