351-[STEWART (Ch.)]. Recollections of Bernadotte during the campaign of 1813. S.l., n.d., in-8, paginated 145 to 159, midnight blue half-maroquin, smooth spine, arms on counterplate, gilt head (later binding). A very rare first edition. Tulard, 1380: "This is not a memoir of Bernadotte, but of Bernadotte. The author, accredited as plenipotentiary to the Headquarters of the Allied sovereigns, was primarily responsible for informing his government of how the Allies - Bernadotte in particular - were "playing the game". They were receiving substantial English subsidies. Bernadotte was much less willing to accept this scrutiny than other sovereigns, hence some of the outbursts..." Excerpt from Spectateur Militaire, Volume XXIX. From the Library of the Marquis Des Roys with his coat of arms and bookplate.
