First edition. The author, Filippo Mazzéi (1730-1816), an Italian emigrant to America, was very close to Thomas Jefferson. He paints a comprehensive picture of the situation in the United States: state formation, institutions, polemics with Mably and Raynal, finance and commerce, the Cincinnatus Society, slavery... The four Lettres d'un bourgeois de New Heaven are by Condorcet. A good copy. Spine slightly rubbed, one spine slightly damaged.
