The first edition, published in 1779 in an in-4 format, had been seized by order of the Garde des Sceaux, as Le Trosne advocated taxing the property of the nobility and the clergy. The initial project, the creation of provincial administrations, was primarily aimed at improving tax collection. A highly detailed work on the Ancien Régime tax system, it remains one of the best works on the subject. A good copy. ` Volume 1 is missing its upper spine.
