First edition of this collection by the Norman poet Réfuveille, a pharmacist in Elbeuf.

The copy is enriched on a flyleaf with a fine letter in verse from the author to Berdalle de Lapomeray, protector of the printing house: "L'Imprimeur au poète uni comme le lierre / qui pour mieux s'élever a besoin d'un appui, / nous a donné le Dante, et Corneille et Molière, / qui peut-être oubliés ne seraient rien sans lui. // From the art of Guttenberg, young and worthy interpreter, / my weak verses in you have found their support, / if you give the world a modest poet, / my work is yours as much as it is mine. // both workers, the cadenced note, / passes from one to the other, and from fixed to path, / when the letter responds so well to the thought, // it is sweet for me to press in my hand your hand. J.A. Réfuveille. Alizai, September 7, 1851".

Engraved bookplate JC.

Some foxing at the head of the book. Upper spine rubbed.
