Lot no. 12
12. Louis VALTAT (1869-1952) Fields of wheat, circa 1915 Watercolor and pencil on paper. Monogrammed in the lower right corner. 17 x 23 cm at sight. 800 / 1 200 € Since 1907, Valtat has been a familiar figure in Calvados. Between 1915 and 1924, he made regular summer stays in Asnels and Ver-sur- Mer. He is more interested in the Normandy countryside, opulent and golden under the summer sky, than by the maritime landscapes. This watercolor seems to be directly preparatory to the oil oil on canvas Champ de Blé, 1915, illustrated under no. 1282, p.143 of the artist's catalog raisonné."
